Why Equals? 2010 - 2015

A collaborative research project with physicist Professor Iain Woodhouse.

This art-science dialogue has evolved from discussions about an equation that encapsulates the process of observation y = Kx + e. Though this equation is used by scientists as a formula to reach factual conclusions, Why Equals? considers it from a conceptual point of view - as a framework of thought that can be applied across disciplines. At the heart of the equation is the admission that we all observe differently and therefore each have a unique way of understanding our shared planet.

Why Equals? has been presented and performed at a variety of events including at Edinburgh University; INSPACE (with New Media Scotland); Generator Projects, Dundee and LASER at Central Saint Martins, London.
